The Baled Material Determines the Wire to Use
Every baled material behaves differently after the press is opened. Some keep their form, while others spring back strongly and keep applying pressure for days. What determines the right wire selection is not diameter or price, but this behavior of the material. Below are the solutions we recommend for each application.
PAPER, CARDBOARD AND CORRUGATED BOARD (OCC)
Pressed paper and cardboard keep their form and spring back very little. Therefore the tie wire does not need to absorb significant expansion. In these applications, high-tensile wire provides an advantage; the load is carried with a smaller cross-section, so less steel is used per bale and the cost per processed ton decreases.

PLASTICS, FILMS AND PACKAGING WASTE
Baled plastics are the opposite. After the press is opened they spring back strongly and apply continuous load to the tie wire throughout storage and transport. For this reason, elongation capability matters more than maximum strength. A wire that can stretch with the bale keeps its performance where a more rigid wire fails at the knot point.

METAL SCRAP AND INDUSTRIAL WASTE
Dense scrap bales combine high weight with sharp edges and strong springback. They are also handled roughly with grapples and magnets. This is the most demanding of baling applications, and a tie wire failure also creates a safety risk.

High-carbon, high-tensile Quiclink in larger diameters, and double-loop wires where a repeatable, tool-free connection is required. Wire grade and diameter are determined not from a catalog but based on press force and bale weight.
TEXTILE, FIBER AND COTTON GINNING
Textile, yarn and fiber bales are bulky and flexible; they show high springback over a long period. A textile bale keeps applying load to the tie wires even weeks later. Cotton gin bales are the most extreme example of this. The fiber is compressed to very high density and starts to expand the moment the press is opened; it keeps stressing the tie wires throughout storage, transport and processing. The important properties in these applications are high elongation and the wire not damaging the soft fibers.
Our Solutions
Round Quiclink for its high elongation and annealed loop wires for hand-tied bales. In cotton gin facilities, high-tensile Quiclink is used in the diameter and quantities the press requires. While holding a bale that shows continuous springback, the wire must not mark or contaminate the fiber. The wide contact surface of oval wire provides an advantage here; by spreading the contact pressure it prevents the wire from sinking into the bale surface.
TIRE RECYCLING
Baled tires are one of the products that store the highest elastic energy among pressed materials. The integrity of the bale depends entirely on the tie wires, and instead of relaxing over time, the rubber keeps springing back continuously. The wire load on day ninety is almost the same as on the first day. In addition, these bales are also handled roughly.

High-carbon, high-tensile Quiclink in larger diameters, and double-loop wires for applications where the connection is made by hand. The final specification is determined taking into account press force, bale weight and how long the bales will be stored before processing. In these applications, reducing the diameter to save cost is not recommended.
AGRICULTURE
Agricultural baling and tying take place outdoors. The wires are kept in warehouses and open areas throughout the whole season. Therefore the decisive property is not strength but corrosion resistance.

DISTRIBUTION AND RETAIL
Not every user has an industrial production line. A store, restaurant or small workshop needs only a limited amount of tie wire for a single vertical press. For these users, shelf-friendly packaging is more suitable than buying by the pallet.

- Outdoor or humid storage conditions, long sea freight: galvanized products with a coating weight determined according to exposure conditions.

Which Wire Is Suitable for a Recycling Facility?
This depends on the material type, the bale density, the press used and the tying method. Paper and cardboard allow the use of higher-tensile wires with a smaller cross-section, while plastic and textile products require higher elongation. Metal scrap requires both strength and sufficient diameter. If you share the material type, the machine and the bale dimensions, we can determine the suitable product.
Which Wire Should Be Used for Metal Scrap?
High-carbon, high-tensile Quiclink in a diameter suited to the bale dimensions, or double-loop wires in applications that are done by hand and require a repeatable connection, should be used. The final choice is made according to press force and bale weight.
When Should Galvanized Wire Be Preferred?
It is suitable for outdoor storage, humid environments, agricultural applications and long sea freight. In indoor, fast-consumption applications, bright wire is more economical, while phosphated wire provides smoother feeding performance.
What Is the Difference Between High-Tensile Wires and Annealed Wires?
High-tensile wires carry the same load using less steel. Annealed wires are softer, stretch more and are easier to tie by hand. The right choice depends on bale density, tying method and usage conditions. In general, one is not better than the other.
